The new film

Axis Bank and Visa have launched their 2026 festive campaign with Shahid Kapoor and the line, “Iss festive season, har khushi ko banao badi.” The film follows a young girl whose wishes take shape through a magical dollhouse: whatever she places inside appears in the real world, and Shahid Kapoor uses an Axis Bank Visa Credit Card to make each transformation happen. It is aimed squarely at festive spenders and cardholders, conceptualised by Leo India, and set to an original score by Amit Trivedi.

The levers it pulls

The film spends its early seconds on a child’s imagination, not an EMI table. That is deliberate. Three behavioural principles do the work.

  • Vividness bias: People remember concrete images more than abstract numbers. The dollhouse turns “up to 20% off” and card rewards into things you can see appearing in a room, which makes the benefit feel real before it is explained.
  • Occasion-based mental accounting: Festivals create a separate mental budget where people allow themselves to spend more. The line “har khushi ko banao badi” frames the purchase as making a moment bigger, not adding to a bill.
  • Halo effect: Shahid Kapoor appears as an enabler, not a seller. His warmth transfers to the card and lowers the guard many people raise around credit product advertising.

The bet Axis Bank is making

Axis Bank and Visa are betting that festive aspiration feels bigger when it is attached to magic and a familiar face than when it is attached only to a rate card. The risk is that the whimsy could overwhelm the offer. The campaign hedges by pairing the story with a hard proposition: more than 100 offers across electronics, mobiles, travel and lifestyle, plus EMI benefits and up to 20% off for eligible cardholders on the Visa network.

The underlying bet is that the dollhouse buys attention and emotion, while the offers close the sale. If only one half lands, the campaign still gives the other a job: the story builds memory, and the discount gives a reason to act.

What to borrow for your next campaign

The transferable idea is not “use a celebrity” or “make a fantasy film.” It is to turn an abstraction into an object the audience can mentally move. Before the ad explains what the card does, it shows what a wish becomes. Then it anchors that wish to an occasion and leaves a concrete next step.

Start by naming the abstract benefit you need to sell. Create a visual ritual or object that makes it tangible. Anchor the ritual to a moment where spending already feels justified, and pair the emotion with a finite, specific incentive rather than a mood. That sequence keeps the magic from floating away from the product.
