The ad in one paragraph

OPPO India’s “The Big Selfie” for the F35 Series casts Bobby Deol and Divyenndu Sharma in three short films built around the line “Jitna Bada Dil, Utni Badi Selfie.” In a crowded family gathering, a mohalla coming together and a fan club trying to get everyone into one frame, the same problem keeps repeating: the bigger the heart, the more people you want in the shot. The F35 is sold as the “Group Selfie Expert,” powered by a 50MP ultra-wide natural selfie camera with a 100° field of view.

The levers it pulls

The films work because they translate a camera specification into a social need. Three behavioural levers do most of the work.

  • Belonging and in-group inclusion. Every story frames the group selfie as proof of who was there. The real anxiety is not a blurry photo; it is leaving someone out. The 100° field of view becomes the answer to that emotional risk, not just a feature.
  • The pratfall effect. Deol and Sharma’s deadpan attempts to squeeze everyone in make them feel like guests at the same chaotic Indian celebration, not polished endorsers. Their visible fumbling makes the brand feel warmer and the fix feel earned.
  • Processing fluency. The F35’s imaging features—such as the 50MP rear camera with OIS, 4K Ultra-Clear Video and AI Remix Collage—are embedded in the stories rather than listed as specs. Because viewers process the phone as part of the moment, there is less reason to counter-argue.

What it does for the brand

OPPO positions the F35 Series as the phone for shared Indian moments. Goldee Patnaik, head of communications at OPPO India, says the campaign’s simple idea is that “some of our most memorable moments are the ones we experience together.” That thought moves the F Series from imaging claims to togetherness. The line “Jitna Bada Dil, Utni Badi Selfie” gives the brand a generous, warm personality, while the fan club and mohalla settings broaden the phone’s appeal beyond young urban buyers. The celebrity pairing adds deadpan shareability without overpowering the product.

What to borrow for your next campaign

Find the emotional cost your feature removes, then show that cost through humour. OPPO’s wide-angle camera is not about more megapixels; it is about not having to decide who gets left out. Use talent who are allowed to struggle on screen—polished perfection raises defences, while comic fumbling lowers them. And keep the product inside the story, not in a separate spec sheet. A feature becomes memorable when it is the punchline to a social problem.
