Interio by Godrej turns the kitchen into a social hub

Interio by Godrej has unveiled a new campaign for its steel kitchens, built around the everyday rhythm of an Indian home. The film follows a couple, their neighbours and the household help as each finds a reason to walk into the kitchen, turning the space into a busy hub. Conceptualised by TBWA\Lintas, produced by Trunkcall Films and directed by Ayaan Das, the campaign will run across YouTube, social media and other digital platforms.

The brand’s stated objective is to create spaces designed for “real homes and families”, as Reshu Saraf, head of integrated marketing and communications at Interio by Godrej, puts it. That means combining strength and durability with contemporary colours and material choices.

Why this matters for brand managers

Most kitchen advertising opens with material, finish or storage. This film opens with people. The couple, neighbours and household help do not admire the kitchen; they use it. In doing so, the campaign shifts steel kitchens from a functional, utilitarian category to a lived-in, social one.

That is a meaningful positioning move. When a brand anchors itself to a repeated usage moment, durability stops being a specification and becomes something a household feels several times a day.

The framework at work

Behavioural marketers often call this a usage occasion or category entry point. Rather than asking “who is the customer?”, the film asks “when and with whom does the product appear?” The answer here is frequent, social and unglamorous: everyday life.

  • It shows the product inside social interactions, not as a standalone object.
  • It links steel to contemporary design instead of letting steel read as purely industrial.
  • It uses digital platforms to reach people researching home upgrades at the moment they need ideas.

What marketers can borrow

If you sell a durable but functional product, do not fight the functional label. Use a busy, lived-in setting to show that function is the reason real homes keep choosing it. Demonstrate the product in use by more than one person and in more than one everyday moment.

The open question is whether one film can shift category perceptions on its own, or whether Interio will need to repeat the busy-kitchen moment consistently. For brand managers, the test matters more than the answer. A clear usage moment, repeated across formats, is how a brand becomes the first name that comes to mind when the renovation begins.
