Himalaya BabyCare banks on 97% natural to answer winter doubts
The winter campaign turns first-time parents' skincare questions into a positioning hook, from allergy fears to layering over oil.
Himalaya BabyCare’s new winter campaign starts where most baby-care ads avoid: the anxious questions parents ask about products for an infant’s first cold season. The campaign is titled ‘Pehle Winter Ka Pehla Layer’, and it uses a simple promise — a “first layer” for baby’s first winter — to move from doubt to daily routine.
The questions before the product
The campaign doesn’t hide from three specific worries: can baby skincare cause allergies, is a lotion or cream really needed if oil is already part of the routine, and do babies need specialised winter skincare at all. A master film and six short films sit inside everyday parenting situations, with Himalaya Baby Lotion and Himalaya Baby Cream as the answer.
Why this framing works
For brand managers, this is objection-led positioning. Instead of leading with moisture claims, the brand names the uncertainty, then resolves it. The line “Baby ke pehle winter ke liye Himalaya BabyCare ka pehla layer” creates a mental slot: not just another baby product, but the product that belongs to a milestone.
- Objections before benefits: allergy risk, oil-versus-cream confusion, and special-skin doubt are handled directly.
- Proof in the background: 97% Natural Origin Ingredients and Penta Moisture Lock appear as reassurance after the emotional hook.
- Milestone framing: “first winter” makes a seasonal product feel like a one-time, must-get ritual.
It is also a jobs-to-be-done shift. The parent’s job is not simply “buy lotion”; it is “get my baby through the first winter without a rash or a wrong product.” The campaign answers that job rather than the category’s usual comparison of cream versus lotion.
That matters because the buying trigger in baby care is often fear of doing the wrong thing rather than dissatisfaction with a current cream. By naming the fear, Himalaya positions itself as the brand that has already thought it through. The rollout across Hindi, English, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Odia, Assamese and Marathi also signals that the campaign is built for scale, not just metros.
“Baby’s first winter is a special milestone for parents, and it does come with a new set of questions around everyday baby care,” said Chakravarthi N. V., director – BabyCare, Himalaya Wellness Company.
What marketers can take
The takeaway isn’t “use natural ingredients.” It’s to make customer questions the structure of the campaign. List the three objections buyers raise in your category, answer each one in a short, everyday scene, and use ingredient or feature claims only as proof — never as the opening line. That sequence turns anxiety into adoption and a seasonal product into a habit.
